Fasting Test

The diagnosis of "insulinoma / endogenous hyperinsulinemia" may be a definite diagnosis made within seconds by an endocrinologist after data of an adaequately performed fasting test become available.
Experts may predict the range of insulin concentrations on the basis of measured blood glucose values and based upon secretory characteristics of insulin.

Requirements:
1.
Availability of adaequate logistics required for employment of a fasting test including appropriate medical supervision.
2.

Reproducible and verified biochemical hypoglycemia with more than just one value (atleast 3 consecutive data, preferably 5).

3.

Analysis of INSULIN -, C-PEPTIDE - and PROINSULIN - concentrations from the same blood samples.

4.

Knowledge of the variability of insulin secretion patterns of insulinomas during and late after an oral glucose load of 100 gramms.

5.

Knowledge of the meaning of absolute hormone values in µU/ml, pmol/l, ng/ml and relevant conversion factors.

6.
Insulinom - Hungertest Graphical plot of insulin - and blood glucose concentrations.
